About us

A note from Nicola

I started bea bea because I couldn't reconcile what I knew about how most things are made with what I wanted to carry. Everything is made here, by hand, from material that already existed.

Every piece begins with a textile that already has a history. Fabrics found in one length and never again.

We name our pieces after London's green places — the squares, the parks, the heath. The trees have been there longer than anything built around them. St James's, Notting Hill, Hampstead.

Everything is cut and finished by hand here in London, from fabric that would otherwise sit untouched on a shelf. Each piece is numbered, and the run isn't repeated.

Making something properly, by hand, from what already exists — that's the whole of it.
